Parent Newsletter June 2010
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to our summer term newsletter. Let’s hope it’s going to be a hot one!
Our toddler suite has now been open since w/c 22nd March 2010. The children have made themselves right at home and are enjoying the new facilities. They all settled really well and love to go outdoors in the ‘big boys and girls’ playground.
Our next phase of building works will be the new roof for the sunshine room. This is scheduled to commence Monday 21st June 2010, weather permitting and should take approximately 3 weeks to complete.
The same building company we previously used for the toddler suite will be undertaking the work so all appropriate checks have been carried out.
Parents/carers of children who attend the baby suite in the main building will be asked to use the front door entrance for the duration of the work.
Access to this door is through the side gate in the outdoor play area or the front gate off the main road.
We will keep you informed as work progresses, but please do not hesitate to ask should you require any further information.
If your child will not be attending nursery, could you please contact us by 9.00am wherever possible in any of the following ways.
Main nursery: 01924 277260
Nursery office: 01924 279966
Email: [email protected]
Also, as from w/c 7th June 2010, the toddler suite and pre-school annex will have a direct number for you to contact should you have any queries or wish to report a child absence. The number is 07908259519.
As far as we are aware, Ossett schools will close for the summer on Friday 23rd July, and will re-open on either the 6th or 7th September 2010. Anyone requiring holiday care for their child should inform a member of staff as soon as possible as places in the annex are limited.
If you are given a newsletter informing you when your child’s school will be closed could you please let us know.
Looking further ahead, the nursery will be closed for the bank holiday on Monday 30th August 2010.
The issue of car parking has been brought to our attention recently due to the premises adjacent to the nursery now being occupied. We are aware that our facilities are not the biggest, but there is enough space in nursery to fit 4 cars if parked considerately and appropriately. Do not park and block the entrance/exit. Also, please note we have permission from the owner of the dog kennels to use their car park for drop off and collection times. Always enter the car park SLOWLY.
Could you please ensure that your children have appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor play, especially with regards to the seasons?
Also, children are still coming to nursery without spare clothing, despite numerous requests. Please ensure that your child has a spare set of clothes at nursery, and more if they are potty training. We only have a limited supply, so if your child needs changing and doesn’t have spare clothes, you will get a phone call asking for some!
Please note that older children in the pre-school annex also need a change of clothing in case of mishap, particularly if they have only just integrated/started.
Fingers crossed that the sunshine remains and we have a fantastic and hot summer!
Please make sure your child has an appropriate hat and a supply of sun cream. These can be kept at nursery or brought in their bag each time they attend.
Jane will begin her maternity leave on Thursday 15th July, and we would like to take this opportunity to wish her all the best for the birth of her baby. We will keep you informed!!! To cover Jane’s job role, we will be employing Tanya, who some of you may remember as she completed her N.V.Q. training at Rainbow in May 2010. She will return from w/c 28th June to re-familiarise herself with the nursery. We look forward to introducing her to you.
It’s around this time of year that we begin to think about and prepare for all our pre-school children to move on to pastures new. Boo hoo!
So if your child will be leaving us for school in September, please be aware that we require 4 weeks written notice, more if you can manage it, as this will be helpful for offering places for those who may require holiday care during the summer.
Many thanks
We have recently been contacted by the local Health Authority with regards to the importance of keeping up to date with all immunisations, especially the vaccination for measles. We are informed that due to large numbers of children not having the measles vaccination, more and more cases are being diagnosed and children are becoming really ill. At present we have had no children with measles, but will keep you informed of any health advice as may be required.
