Summer term newsletter 2015
Dear Parents/Carers
Almost half way through the year – WHAT! I cannot believe it is time to write the summer term newsletter already. Here goes……
Dates for your diary
Wakefield schools will be closing for the summer holidays on Friday 17th July; anyone requiring holiday care for their child should inform a member of staff as soon as possible. Please note that the Early Years Free Entitlement for 2, 3 and 4 year olds does not apply out of term time and therefore full fees will be applicable until the new term begins in September 2015.
The nursery will be closed:
Summer Bank Holiday Monday 31st August 2015
School leavers
It’s around this time of year that we begin to think about and prepare for all our pre-school children moving on to pastures new. L Noooooooooooooo!!
So if your child will be leaving us for school in September, please be aware that we require 4 weeks written notice, more if you can manage it, as this will be helpful for offering places for those who may require holiday care during the summer.
Leaver’s picnic
We will once again be hosting the annual leaver’s picnic for all the children moving on to school. This will be held on the afternoon of Friday 3rd July. A fun-filled time with bouncy castle, games and party picnic. Further details for all applicable children will be sent out via a separate memo.
Safety in the sun
Although the sun is fun, we are only too aware of how important it is to protect the children as much as possible whilst playing outdoors.
Therefore, please make sure that your child/children have a supply of sun cream, and a hat to wear when attending the nursery.
If they do not bring these items then their time outdoors will be extremely limited!
It is nursery policy not to allow unprotected children any longer than 20 minutes outdoors – 10 minutes if it is really hot!
Also if at all possible, it would be very much appreciated if they could have some cream put on before arriving at nursery. As you can imagine it takes quite a long time to apply to all the children before they can go out! Thank you in advance.
Security
We would like to stress how important it is when dropping your child off or picking them up – particularly in the Rainbow room and Pre-school annex – that you close the door behind you and lock it, especially if staff members are already talking to other parents and their children that have previously arrived or are leaving. The new sash-jammer locks are working well but we must ALWAYS be vigilant to safeguard the children. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.
